Summer started a few weeks ago with the hot, hot, heat and the amazing humidity that gives you that perfect “glow.” Yes, we’ll call it glow, not sweat. The good news is that there’s many fun indoor and outdoor activities to keep you and the little one’s busy this month.

MONDAY, JUNE 1st
Fitly Fitness Class for Moms/Dads/Caregivers at Bay & Bee, 4pm-4:45pm. This is a fun and energizing, barefoot, body weight fitness class designed for those looking to burn fat and gain muscle tone. Fitly is centered on natural movement that can transfer into everyday activities, like playing with your kids or hiking a challenging trail. This class is made for parents but you’re welcome to bring the kids and let them play. Members are free; $12 for non members.

Toddler Time at Sweet Pete’s, 11am. Toddler time is for toddlers ages 2 ½ to 5 years old. Each toddler will dip an all-natural cookie lollipop into chocolate and decorate the cookie. After making their sweet treat, they will enjoy a candy themed story time. Cost is $7.50
Summer Outdoor Movie: Planes, Fire & Rescue (PG), 9PM at Sea Otter Pavilion at NS Mayport. Bring your lawn chairs and/ or blankets, & bug spray. This is a free event.
Pogopalooza 2015 US Open in Hemming Park June 5th-6th: Pogopalooza is the annual World Championships of Xpogo and the biggest pogo stick event on the planet. Bringing together the top athletes for a wild set of days, Pogopalooza is both an action sports competition and a celebration of pogo sticks for the entire family. The Pogopalooza tour kicks off each summer with a USA Open event, and feeds into the World Finals. Events begin at 6am on the 5th, click the link above for full event schedule.

MWR Presents The Royal Princess Breakfast at The Grove at Windy Harbor Golf Club. There will be two seatings at 9am and 11am. Tickets are $8, cash only, and must be purchased in advance at ITT. Open to all active duty families. Call 904-270-7196 to see if tickets are still available.
Never Quit Beach Fest, Jacksonville Beach: This annual event in Jacksonville is inspired by Capt. Gerard Petroni based on 5 Never Quit Principles, healthy living, family and honoring women, American values, support our Armed Forces and Constitution and a commitment to NEVER QUIT! The day begins with beach yoga, followed by a 5K, a 1 mile beach run (ALL AGES), a Trident, a Warrior and Jr. Warrior Challenge, and a Battle of the Beach! Check our their site to see what you and your family can get involved in. It’s a great day to be out at the beach.
Kid’s Day at Riverside Arts Market, 10am-4pm: Join Riverside Arts Market and Jax4Kids.com in celebrating being a kid! RAM is always full of kid-friendly entertainment and activities such as the Children’s Creativity Corner, balloon artists and face painters, but what better time to ramp things up than the start of summer vacation. Entertainment will be geared towards kids – making sure there’s plenty for them to do. Special booth spaces will be occupied by local businesses and organizations of interest to families with children. Afterwards, check out the Cummer Museum with your FREE admission.
Learn to Build a Load & Go Truck at Home Depot, 9am-12pm. Participating Home Depot’s around Jacksonville offer free hands on workshops for kids ages 5-12. Jax Beach Art Walk: The 2nd Tuesday of the month from 5pm-9pm,. This family friendly event takes place in front of businesses along 1st St from Beach Blvd north to 5th Ave N. The Jax Beach Art Walk showcases the talent of great local artists and the businesses in the community. Many of the participating businesses will have live music and specials throughout the art walk.

Dozin’ with the Dinosaurs at MOSH. Spend the night in MOSH’s summer exhibit, Dinosaurs Unearthed, or under Fermata, the museum’s life-sized whale. Dozing with Dinos also includes an animal program, dino crafts, a self-guided flashlight tour, and a movie. The camp-in begins at 6 p.m. and ends the next morning at 7 a.m. Cost is $35 per person (adult required) and includes a late-night pizza snack and continental breakfast. Members receive a 20% discount. Special souvenir packs are available for $10 at the camp-in.
