It’s FEBRUARY! It’s not quite beach weather yet, but we’re almost there. In the meantime, check out these awesome events happening this month around Jacksonville:
Monday, February 3rd-8th, The Book of Mormon at the Times Center Moran Theater. This award winning musical is stopping in Jacksonville as a part of their national tour.
Wednesday, February 4th-Jacksonville Art Walk This event is held 5pm-9pm in downtown Jacksonville, spans 15 blocks and includes over 40 galleries, museums, restaurants, bars, businesses, artists, performers and live music. Be sure to swing by ArtFusion at MOCA, a fun art-making program for families led by a professional art educator. Starts at 5:30pm.
Thursday, February 5th-Imagination Station at TNT Gymnastics. This event takes place every Thursday from 9:30am-11:00am. For ages 2-6. Enjoy open gym and and organized activity with your child. $12 for members, $15 for non-members.
Friday, February 6th-Cosmic Concerts at MOSH. The Bryan-Gooding Planetarium rocks every Friday night with Cosmic Concert laser light shows at 8, 9 and 10 p.m. Tickets are available at www.moshplanetarium.org or at the door. Tickets are $5 per person per show; laser glasses cost $1. It’s also $5 Fridays which means you can enjoy the museum from 10am-8pm for only $5.
Friday, February 6th, St. Augustine First Friday Art Walk- The Art Galleries of Saint Augustine sponsors the First Friday Art Walk the first Friday of every month from 5-9pm. Parking is free after 5pm. You can start your free self guided tour at any of the Art Galleries. Most are within walking distance, but there is also a free Art Walk train and trolley that runs downtown. There will be live music and great eats rain or shine.
Saturday, February 7th, Community First Saturdays at Northbank Riverwalk–offered the first Saturday of the month, 10:00a-2:30p, this event includes bike tours, fitness classes and awesome food trucks. This Saturday is also the inaugural soccer match between the Jacksonville Armada and Philadelphia Union starting at 5:30PM!
Saturday, February 7th: Free admission to the Cummer Museum the first Saturday of every month, open 10am-4pm. Guests enjoy free admission, art making activities for all ages in the gardens, live music, and a tour at 2pm. Then, check out the Riverside Arts Market 10am-4pm for a fun-filled Saturday in Riverside.
Monday, February 9th: Rebounderz, the indoor trampoline and extreme fun center, has added Toddler Mondays! Children ages 5 and under jump for $8 from 9:30a-11:30a. Mom or Dad jumps free with toddler. This event happens EVERY MONDAY AND TUESDAY from 9:30a-11:30a.
Tuesday, February 10th: Jax Beach Art Walk. This family friendly event takes place the second Tuesday of the month, 5p-9p, along 1st street, between Beach Blvd N. and 5th St. N. The Jax Beach Art Walk great local artists. Many of the participating businesses will have live music and specials throughout the art walk.
Thursday, February 12th: Free Thursday Evenings at MOCA, visit the Museum of Contemporary Art every Thursday from 5pm-9pm throughout 2015. At 7pm, there will be a special 45 minute tour of their “White” exhibition.
Friday, February 13th: Jerry Seinfeld at the Times Center Moran Theater. We saw Jerry in San Diego a few years ago and it was hilarious. His show starts at 7pm.
Take a BIKE TOUR with e2Ride! Last February, a group of spouses from our command got together for a bike tour through Riverside and Avondale. It was so much fun and this is the perfect month to do it. It’s not too hot yet and it’s beautiful outside. The owner offers great military discounts too so be sure to check it out.
Saturday, February 14th: Art for Two: ABSTRACTION at the Cummer Museum. This is a children’s class where you can go and make art with your little one from 10:30am-12pm. Open to children ages 3 through 5 and their favorite adult. Class size is limited. Pricing is $15 per pair for members and $20 per pair for Non-Members. Sunday, February 15th: 26.2 with Donna. It’s the annual Breast Cancer Marathon in Jacksonville! You can register now if you’d like to run or volunteer.
Monday, February 16th: WILD KRATTS LIVE is coming to the Florida Theater at 1PM and 4PM. Tickets available at The Florida Theater.
Wednesday, February 18th: Bay & Bee is hosting a workshop entitled “A How To Guide to Getting Your Toddler to Behave” at 11am. If you have a toddler or preschooler who is 1 year to 4 years who has mastered the tantrum, you need to check this out. Presented by Annie Fawcett, M.Ed., BCBA. Free for members. $12 for Non-Members.
Thursday, February 19th: North Beach Art Walk. This artwalk is held on the 3rd Thursday of each month in Atlantic & Neptune Beach. They have over 55 participating artists, making it a great monthly destination.
Friday, February 20th: Open Gym for PreSchoolers at TNT Gymnastics. This event takes place from 9am-10am every Friday! They also have open gym every Wednesday from 11am-12pm too. Price is $5 cash or $6 with card.
Saturday, February 21st: Art Adventures: Rothko to Rither at the Cummer Museum. This is a children’s class for ages 6 through 12 from 10:30am-12:30pm. Students will explore groundbreaking works of abstraction in this special exhibition on loan to the Museum and create their own abstract works in response. Saturday, February 21st: Monster Jam has returned to the Jacksonville Veterans Memorial Arena with your favorites, Grave Digger and Son-uva Digger!
Friday, February 27th: The Harlem Globetrotters are back in Jax! With their amazing ball handling wizardry, awesome rim-rattling dunks and trick shots, side-splitting comedy and unequaled on-court fan interaction, this is a must-see vent for the entire family. The show will be at the Jacksonville Veterans Memorial Arena.
